WVSA / US Soccer D Coaching Course
17 Jun 2010 - 20 Jun 2010
Marshall University

WVSA will be hosting a "D" Coaching Clinic for any interested coaches on June 17-20 at Marshall University in Huntington, WV.  We will follow a four-day format that will include both lecture and on the field sessions.  WVSA Director of Coaching Bob Gray will lead the instruction, assisted by WVSA staff coaches Thomas Olivier and Seamus Reilly.  The objectives of the "D" course are:

1. To prepare coaches for training players U15 and above by expanding the player's tactical awareness, while furthering their technical ability.

2. To provide a framework and understanding of practical coaching methods.

3.  To serve both coaches for whom this represents their final coaching course, as well as those who plan to pursue a National License.
All candidates will be expected to participate in all activities (field and discussion groups), and to demonstrate coaching ability and basic soccer knowledge.  They will need to bring pen, paper and a soccer ball to each session.  D License coaching manuals will be provided to all coaches.  Candidates will need to pass written tests on the Laws of the Game, First Aid, and Match Analysis.  Candidates will also need to pass their practical coaching test on the last day of the course.  Cost for the course is $150.00, and all candidates must have a US Soccer "E" license or receive a waiver into this course form the WVSA state office.  Housing and Meals are available for $130 at MU. Meals for commuters can be purchased on site, Breakfast $6 and Lunch/Dinner $8
